Project Title: Developing a patient-centric medical narrative

Project Description: What effect does understanding an individual’s personality, cultural values, and experiences have on their prognosis and treatment? With my project, I intend to investigate the intersectionality of literary theory, medical anthropology, and psychology to understand and analyze patient perspectives and public health policy. This multifaceted approach would provide insight into healthcare disparities, societal attitudes, and cultural stigmatization—all of which impact medical care in distinct, significant ways. My hope is that my research will contribute to the development of humanistic medical approaches in cross-cultural contexts.

Reflections on the College Scholar Program: I applied to the College Scholar program because I was eager to embark on a journey of transformative scientific inquiry. Thus far, I have truly enjoyed collaborating with fellow College Scholars and learning more about research and independent investigation in the COLLS seminar. I look forward to exploring this research project over the next two years and learning from peers and faculty in the process!
